Building Beloved Community During Troubling Times

In 2024, at a Fireside chat hosted by ISAAC, author Layla Saad said, ‘“The Beloved Community. We want to live there. And a lot of times we want to skip over the work it takes to get there. The beloved community is not a destination that we are walking towards or arrive at, it’s actually something that we must build within ourselves and together collectively.’ In this service, Dr. Charlae Davis will reflect on the work of building Beloved Community in this challenging moment.

Dr. Charlae Monique Davis was born and raised in Kalamazoo, the youngest child of Kalamazoo Public Schools educators Vern and Auga Davis. She is a Graduate of the University of Michigan and Michigan State University and has worked as a Counselor and Lecturer/Instructor at these institutions.
