Dear People’s Church members and friends,
People’s people are generous people. We give our time, talent, treasure, and trust to do the works of love that none of us can accomplish alone. Over the last year, we have:
- Offered comprehensive sexuality education to our children in fifth through eighth grade;
- Held the 20th biggest food drive in Kalamazoo (as measured by weight of food donated);
- Purchased the solar panels on our church building;
- Gathered and distributed thousands of dollars to support refugees, undocumented people, trans people, and survivors of human trafficking;
- Welcomed over 50 new adults into the life of our congregation.
The world needs our values of justice, equity, transformation, pluralism, interdependence, generosity and love now, perhaps more than ever.
This is the moment to make your pledge for the upcoming fiscal year. In this stewardship campaign, we seek to fund our operating budget and anticipated building maintenance and repairs. The contributions of People’s people are the church’s largest source of financial support. Each of us has a different financial situation. We trust that you know what generosity means for you now. We have enclosed a ‘Rainbow of Generosity’ document for guidance. Our current pledges range from $20 to over $20,000 annually, with an average of $2,300. We hope you feel good about your financial commitment to the church. Both members and non-members make pledges to the church. (And please reach out to me if you want to become a member.)
There are several ways to make your pledge. You can complete the enclosed pledge form and mail it to the church or bring it with you to the church building. There is an online form available on the church website. We joyfully accept pledge payments by check, cash, credit/debit card, electronic funds bank transfer, securities (including required minimum distributions from IRAs), or any other way you choose. You can give monthly, all at once, or in whatever frequency fits your life. We also don’t require you to fill out a pledge form, if that sort of advance commitment doesn’t make sense for you now. Contributing as you can throughout the year is great too.
Please complete your pledge form – or tell us you don’t intend to pledge right now – by April 1.
