Earth Day Celebrations Abound!

Two organizations are planning Earth Day celebrations in our area. The Kalamazoo Nature Center is focused on one big day, and Kalamazoo Earth Day has many smaller events throughout April. Here’s some info from their websites:

Celebrate Earth Day Saturday, April 26, 2025 *** FREE admission day!
Enjoy FREE admission to KNC’s Visitor Center, trails, and exhibits all day. Celebrate the first signs of spring, and check out the exciting line-up of programs happening throughout the day. Dance, drum, eat, hike, learn, and create in celebration of our planet!

  • Earth Day Community Drum at 11 am
  • Forest Mosaic exhibit open all day

There are many events in various stages of planning.

  • Every Saturday there’s a cleanup, planting, or celebration in a neighborhood or park somewhere in the City of Kalamazoo.
  • April 19 (Saturday) 10am: Join the Earth Day Fun Run at the Kalamazoo YMCA.
  • April 20 (Sunday) 11am to 2pm: Families are invited to the Children’s Nature Playscape: Earth Day Family Fun event at 302 Academy Street.
  • April 22 (Tuesday): The Kalamazoo Literacy Council and Edison Neighborhood Association will do a clean-up on at the Albert White Literacy Trail. Times and other information will be posted on the website.
  • April 22 (Tuesday): Kalamazoo Area Wild Ones, the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy, and the Audubon Society of Kalamazoo are collaborating on a Signs of Spring Guided Nature Walk at Upjohn Park. Check the website for the time and other details.
  • April 26 (Saturday): Kalamazoo Valley Museum Rain Garden Tours at 11am, 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm.
  • Sunday, April 27 (Sunday): 11am to 2pm: Native garden restoration with Reforest Vine at the SW corner of S. Rose and Wall streets.
  • Or volunteer to help clean up the grounds and garden areas right here at People’s Church!
