The Study Group will be meeting on Monday September 9 at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom, to discuss: “Breaking Through: My Life in Science” by Katalyn Kariko. Dr. Kariko won the 2023 Nobel Prize in Medicine for her research that led to the mRNA vaccine for COVID. This memoir depicts how she overcame the challenges she faced during her career – including being denied tenure and having her lab taken away – and what philosophical and psychological resources helped her overcome those challenges. The Study Group meets monthly to discuss a wide variety of books dealing with issues in philosophy, religion, science, history, and current affairs. New members are welcome!
