The Times They Are A-Changing

The availability of vaccines for kids over five years old is an exciting development. Recognizing that it will take time for the elementary-aged kids to become fully vaccinated with both doses, we hope to begin 2022 by offering some activity options inside the church.

We’ll finish out 2021 with those under 12 in our outdoor classrooms.  Our new outdoor gas heaters and pavilion should both be in place this month.

The kids are enjoying the interactive stories, fun hands-on activities and time to explore in the woods each week together.

After so much isolation from community the past year, having the opportunity to play and interact with one another in nature has been a great blessing for all involved.

How do we as a church community best support our families during these difficult times? How do we engage our youth and provide opportunities for meaningful connections?

The pandemic has changed the playing field and what worked before is no longer relevant. We in RE are trying to adapt and be responsive to needs as we become aware of them.

Feel free to contact me to share your perspectives of how we can best minister to your family at this time. What do you want and need from People’s Church? How can we best serve and support you?

Blessed Be, Diane Melvin, Religious Education Director

Mindfulness Meditation Group
1st and 3rd Thursdays – 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Room 19 and on Zoom

All are invited to participate in this circle designed to deepen connections and provide opportunities to practice mindfulness and meditation together.

We begin each session with 10 minutes of silent meditation to center ourselves. After an opening reading, we take turns checking in and sharing what is true for each of us. We conclude with another meditation session and closing words.

Recognizing that life is precious and impermanent, we aspire to be fully mindful in our daily lives. We gather to remind each other of the importance of practicing right perspective and mindfulness to more skillfully respond to the circumstances of our lives as they unfold.

Chalice Circle for Adults during RE

Wondering what to do while your children and youth are enjoying their RE class until you can attend church in person again? Head to Room 12 to participate in a Chalice Circle for adults to deepen connections with one another from 11:00-Noon on Sunday mornings.

Meet and connect with other parents and adults indoors and masked in a room with a portable box filter fan.  Embrace the opportunity to meet new people and deepen your connections with one another. The combination of deep listening and personal sharing provide openings for witnessing and truth telling, both of which can enrich our lives in meaningful ways.
