For many years People’s people have been intertwined with the students and staff at Lincoln Elementary.  We have had tutors and mentors there for as long as I can remember.  We hold a special annual collection for them at the beginning of the church/school year (that will be on Sunday, Sept. 15th).  We have done things like book collections so EVERY student had a book at their reading level of their own, collected snacks for the afterschool program, collected clothing for the Kid’s Closet, helped kids “shop” for small holiday gifts for family members—the list is long!

Last school year, several People’s people and I volunteered either with individual students or in classrooms.  I just want to take a moment to appreciate all the time, energy and love that the following people shared with Lincoln Elementary:

Martha Beverly,
Rochelle Habeck-Hunt,
Eunice Jennings,
Catherine Niessink,
Stephen Ohs
Kay Spade,
Kathryn Westphal

Each of these individuals has helped students and staff making the personal connection that so many of the kids crave, assisting teachers in giving students more individualized attention in areas they struggle and simply just being there as a consistent adult that cares.  Thank you to all of you for the connections you’ve made with the students at Lincoln Elementary.

If anyone is interested in hearing more about volunteering with Lincoln School, please feel free to contact me.  Or speak to any of the volunteers listed about what their experience has been.  If there is one thing that Lincoln needs, it is more volunteers!

Thank you,
