humor & comedyReverend Dave Johnson

Is it OK to laugh out loud and lighten up in church? Humor can be healing—if it is invoked respectfully. C.S. Lewis observed: “Humor involves a sense of proportion and seeing yourself from the outside. Hell is a state where everyone is perpetually concerned about his own advancement; where everyone has a grievance; and where everyone is deadly serious.” And the noted philosopher Bertrand Russell wisely observed: “Laughter is the most inexpensive and the most effective wonder drug. Laughter is a universal medicine.” If the blahs of mid-winter are getting you down, this service will be an opportunity to let your mind and heart become like a piñata: Who knows what surprises may be in store, when they open up?
