When asked what super power she’d like to have, Rev. Rachel almost always says she’d like to understand and speak every language. It is no wonder that Rev. Rachel’s favorite Christian holiday is the often-overlook Pentecost. Today, she will tell you about this day, which happened a few months after the death of Jesus. The spirit ‘was poured out’ on the first followers of Jesus and they began prophesying and understanding one another across language barriers. As we near the end of a year when we have paid extra attention to Jewish and Christian wisdom traditions, we will celebrate (a few weeks early) this ‘birthday of the church.’
There will be a potluck after the service on this day to coincide with the Annual Meeting. Please bring a dish to share and plan to stay!
