As Hanukkah begins, let us remember the story of the Maccabee uprising of 164BCE. In a time when the Jews near Jerusalem were ruled by a foreign power and not allowed to practice their faith, a group rebelled—and triumphed. This service will include a retelling of that victory, the story of the miracle that happened when the temple was rededicated, as well as reflection on what this ancient story might have to teach us now.
