Loaves and Fishes Food Donations

loaves-fishes-3Nate Vanderberg and Rick Johnson dropped off 514 pounds of food collected by People’s Church members to Loaves and Fishes recently. The church’s Religious Education program supervised this collection to help alleviate hunger in Kalamazoo by making a gift to our local food bank. We are grateful for the generous donations received and to our youth group who sorted and loaded the food onto the Loaves and Fishes Express Truck.

Become a GEM and Support ISAAC

ISAAC’s Executive Director Charlae Davis is celebrating her second year of leading the Interfaith Strategy for Advocacy and Action in the Community. In honor of her excellent leadership we are asking more people to become a GEM—Give Every Month—member. The goal is to increase this group by 50%. (We currently have 8 in our congregation who give to ISAAC every month.) As little as $10 per month would meet that challenge. If you are interested please email Rochelle Habeck Hunt at habeck@chartermi.net.

Special Collection for Ministry with Community — December 11

The collection on December 11th will be given to Ministry with Community. This day-shelter agency is open from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM seven days a week to provide a variety of services to those who are homeless or have other needs. Breakfast and lunch are served daily. People can use the laundry facilities or take a shower. There is a computer lab for those who are looking for work. Those who don’t have a phone or permanent address can use the phone or have their mail sent there. The onsite Loaves and Fishes food pantry provides emergency food. Crisis intervention, short-term crisis counseling, on-going personal counseling, life-skills coaching, support groups and help for drug and alcohol dependency are other services available.

Ministry with Community is a vital life-line for those who don’t have a home and are looking for ways to improve their lives. This is your opportunity to support the work they do.
