Open Doors Partnership: a team of eight church members donated their time,108 hours total, and skills to rehabilitate a one-bedroom apartment on Park Street for a new tenant: a grateful young mother who moved into her new home on August 26th.

Refugee Resettlement: People’s Church housed a two-week Summer Enrichment Program in July for 18 Syrian and African refugee middle school and high school students. This was a pilot program led by Neena Marion under the auspices of the Kalamazoo Refugee Resource Collaborative. In addition to housing the program, our church supported this effort with a Second Sunday Special Collection in May.

Lincoln School Partnership: As the school year gets underway, tutors are needed to help at Lincoln School. A special collection for Lincoln School will be held on September 15.

Community Social Justice Calendar: The calendar is available on our website at If church members know of community social justice events that they would like shared on the calendar, please email and include the following information: name of the event, date, time and place, contact information of either a person, website or Facebook link.

Anyone is welcome to sit in on Social Justice Coordinating Committee meetings. The SJCC meets the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in Room L1.
