Following a brief explanation of the work of Ministry with Community by Executive Director Kelly Henderson, $1327.29 was collected to support this effort on Sunday the 9th. Thank you for your generous contribution.
On January 20, we will have the chance to support Boiling Point Collective, an emerging nonprofit founded by members of People’s Church. The Boiling Point Collective (BPC) is a burgeoning decentralized collective in Kalamazoo, Michigan that strives to cooperatively own and operate a shared space for the benefit of local to regional grassroots community organizers and non-violent direct action campaigns that address an array of issues that impact us, oppressed communities and the landbase we share.
Holiday Party Recap
The Holiday Party on December 16th, sponsored by the Social Justice Coordinating Committee and the Membership/Connections Committee was great success! Over 60 Christmas gifts for the women and children currently residing in the YWCA’s Domestic Assault Shelter were donated by our generous church members. Those in attendance had fun and fellowship, singing holiday songs, making ornaments, playing holiday bingo, decorating cookies, making fleece blankets and enjoying storytelling.
Remember the opportunity to safely dispose of those packing materials–styrofoam, peanuts, etc., on December 30 when Green Sanctuary committee will be collecting such after church. There will be future opportunities on January 5, March 23, June 22, and September 29, 2019.
