May Special Collection
Flint Child Health and Development Fund

flintThe water crisis in Flint has filled the headlines and broken our hearts.

There are many good organizations working to address the immediate and long-term impacts of this crisis. One of them is the Flint Child Health
and Development Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. This fund supports immediate response as well as longer-term needs such as behavioral interventions, early childhood education, access to healthy food, and research.

Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha of Hurley Medical Center and Michigan State University has been at the forefront of this issue. She is the founding donor of the fund. She says “If there was ever a time to invest in our children, it is now. Our Flint children deserve every opportunity to be healthy and successful. The creation of this Fund will further ensure that our children are afforded the resources and interventions to overcome this population-wide exposure to lead.”
