The Young Religious Unitarian Universalists (YRUU) Youth group is made up of 9th through 12th graders and meets from 1 to 3 pm the second Sunday every month at People’s Church.
We strive to create an ideal climate for youth to focus on the five aspects of a healthy UU youth group which include:
- Worship
- Leadership
- Social Justice
- Learning
- Social Activities
The YRUU offers its members:
A Sense of Community
- We have no “in” groups or “out” groups
- We love and care for everyone
- We develop intimate, caring friendships
A Sense of Trust
- We share deep joys and sorrows
- We don’t put down or judge each other
- We can be our true selves
A Climate of Enthusiasm
- We are interested in what our friends are doing and who they’re with
- We are enthusiastic about our faith and exploring religious living
A Commitment to Learning and Growth
- We want to know more about ourselves, our religion, and our world
A Sense of Social Responsibility
- We are committed to making the world a better place and to making a difference in the world
- We realize and understand obstacles in our lives and use creativity to overcome them
- We help each other develop self-esteem
