Over the past year, the Widening Our Welcome team (Sandy Steele, Cylise Snow, Chris Semelbauer, Susan Moerdyk, Marj Lightner, Jeanne Leadley, Connie Ferguson, Greg Feldmeier, Sonja Dean, Gordon Bolar, Andrew Alm, and Rev. Rachel) have asked you about your dreams for People’s Church. The conversation began with a focus on adding a worship service, but it has since expanded to be about how we make everything we do more robust and more in line with our values.
You all shared so many good ideas—and now we are ready to share some of those with you and ask you all to help us prioritize our next steps as a church community by completing a survey. We invite all who care about the future of People’s Church to participate and return their survey by November 18.
Over the next few weeks, there will be a number of ways to hear about our learning and make your voice heard:
- November 4, ‘These are Your Dreams’ Sunday service, led by Rev. Rachel and the Widening Our Welcome Team. In this service, we will share with you all some possibilities for our future as a church and share the survey.
- November 11, 9:30am, Room 19 ‘These are Your Dreams’ encore presentation. If you can’t be in the service on 11/4, come to this gathering to watch a video of the service and have your questions answered.
- TBD, Delving into the Data. Are you interested in the data collection and sorting that the team did? Come meet with Andrew and Susan to learn about how we got from conversation tables to the survey.
There will also be Widening Our Welcome team members present at a table in the foyer after the services on November 4, November 11, and November 18 to answer your questions and hear your ideas.
We will also post video of the service, the raw data from the conversation tables, and the survey online. Check upcoming Friday emails for the link.
We will also be mailing materials to church people who receive the newsletter by mail who are not present on the fourth.
If you have questions about any of this, please ask any Widening Our Welcome team member.
