A half-century ago, responses to the question “What church do you go to?” were helpful descriptions of a person’s identity and values. Today that question matters far less — except in the deep South. Instead the question often leads to the disclaimer: “Oh, I’m spiritual but not religious.” Usually that remark ends the conversation. The implication is that for many, religion has become strictly a private matter, and thus is no one else’s concern. Is that all there is to say? We’ll explore the challenges of living authentically in an ‘Spiritual But Not Religious’ (SBNR) world.
This session is geared towards newcomers and newer members of People’s Church, but anyone is welcome to attend. Fruit, cheese, crackers and childcare will be provided. If you’d like to attend, please RSVP to Anna Shade (email@example.com) or RSVP online.
