SJCC Meeting Time

The Social Justice Coordinating Committee met during the last week of August via Zoom to begin planning for the upcoming church year as we continue to navigate COVID mitigation. The committee will be meeting on the 1st Mondays of the month at 3:00 p.m. via Zoom this fall. We may resume in-person meetings in the new year—to be determined as the situation unfolds. Anyone who is interested in attending our meetings is welcome. Contact Ann Feldmeier at to receive a Zoom invitation.

Special Collection for Lincoln School
Sunday, September 26th

Like much else in the world around us—we don’t know what things will look like for Lincoln School this year.  At the time of this writing Kalamazoo Public Schools are set to open with in-person learning for those students who opt for that format. Students will have a choice to be all virtual or in-person.

There will be a need for help for Lincoln students and staff. Like last year, we don’t know yet what all those needs might entail. It could be for in-person or online tutoring, or needing to do a collection drive for school supplies, snack/food supplements for families. These are just a few things they may need.

People’s Church will still have its annual start of the year collection for Lincoln, as we do every fall. This year the Sunday Special Collection to benefit Lincoln falls on September 26th, but donations can be made anytime during the month of September. Donations can be made by sending a check to the church—be sure to mention in the memo line that it is intended for Lincoln School. If you prefer to make your donation online, please click the Donate Button on the church’s homepage and enter your donation in the box marked ‘Special Collections’. Teachers will have very different needs this year and whatever we donate will help them to alleviate some of that stress and burden. But there will likely be other needs that will be communicated to you as they arise.

Thank you for all the generosity of time, talent and treasure! People’s Church has always been willing to share with the students and staff at Lincoln.

Please contact me at if you are interested in tutoring this year.

Thank you,
Jeme Baker
