The Ministerial Search Committee wishes to inform the congregation that Dyrk Hamilton has resigned his position on the search committee. We would like to thank Dyrk for his many hours of hard work and conscientious and thoughtful contributions, and express our respect for his personal decision to leave the committee. We will miss his unique insights and clever analogies. Our work continues, and we are on schedule! After consultation with our MSR, Rev. Barbara Child, we will not be replacing Dyrk on the committee. This is standard on search committees when a member leaves at this point in the process. Given the stage in our process and the work that remains to be done, moving forward with a six-person committee is preferable to bringing a new member up to speed. The even number of members no longer matters in terms of having a tie-breaker, as all of our remaining decisions will need to be unanimous or nearly so.

We are nearing completion of our Information Packet, which is one of the main ways we “sell” People’s Church to candidate ministers. Look for more information on this as well as our survey results in January. Next month we will be getting to a very interesting part of the search process, learning about the candidate ministers who are interested in our church! We are also looking forward to the Beyond Categorical Thinking workshop on January 11. We hope that you will join us for the service, with the sermon provided by Rev. Keith Kron, UUA’s Director of Transitions, which will be followed immediately by lunch and then a three-hour interactive workshop. Childcare will be provided.
