Intergenerational ServiceChanges

The only thing certain in life is that change will occur.   I am feeling excited for the changes the beginning of  the new church year will bring at People’s Church.

RE Office Moved
For starters the RE Office has moved.  You can now find Nicky Gates, the RE Assistant and myself in Room 2.  If you’ve been around for a few years, you’ll recall that this used to be DRE office.  Returning to this more spacious office with a view gives us enough space to be able to work together in the same room again.

Collaborating with Rev. Dave
I am excited to be working with Rev. Dave this year and I appreciate the perspective and positive energy he brings to our congregation at this time.  I feel confident that he will help us do what we need to so we can attract the best new settled minister possible.

RE Committee
The RE Committee has just finished their daylong summer retreat and planning session and is ready to serve our congregation over the coming year to provide excellent opportunities in religious education for all ages.

RE Teaching Assistants Needed!
We are still putting our teaching teams together for the coming year and more folks are needed to fill integral roles.  Please consider helping out as an assistant  in an RE class one or two times per month this year.  Your help is imperative to ensure we have adequate teaching team members so as to give everyone            a chance to attend the church service a few times        a month.  You may find it is more fun and rewarding than you imagined. Training is provided.

Kiera’s Passing
Thank you so much to all of you who reached out to me through phone calls, cards and Facebook messages to share your sympathy with Kiera’s passing.  I am reminded once again what a supportive and beloved community this is.  I am still grieving her loss and very grateful for your love and support.

New Adventure
As we embark on this new church year together, I am optimistic for a positive year filled with much religious searching and sustenance, deepening compassion, supportive fellowship and progressive social action!

May it be so!

Blessed Be, Diane Melvin, Director of Religious Education
