The March 9 special collection will benefit Lemkin House, a non-profit located in Grand Rapids that serves those people in the West Michigan area who are seeking asylum in the United States because of a credible fear of persecution or torture in their home countries on account of their race, religion, nationality or membership in a particular social group. Asylum-seekers are held in detention centers while their applications are processed unless they have somewhere to stay. This is where Lemkin House steps in, providing a safe and welcome place to stay and prepare their cases while they undergo the difficult legal and mental transition from asylum-seeker to asylee. The vision is not ‘us’ serving ‘them’, but all of us working together. Visit their website at http://lemkinhouse.org/
