It is critical that as an organization, and as individuals, we come to a deeper understanding of the spiritual nature of antiracism and multicultural competence work. Thanks to the hard work and visioning of the Anti-Racism Anti-Oppression Multi-Cultural (ARAOMC) Committee, People’s Church has been awarded a $9950 grant from the Kalamazoo Community Foundation to fund a one-day introduction to Understanding and Analyzing Systemic Racism workshop for up to 40 individuals, as well as funding tuition to send 14 People’s members and friends to the full 2 1/2 day workshop of the same name. Dates for the 2 ½ day workshops are December 4-6, 2014; February 26‐28, 2015; May 14‐16, 2015; Sept 24‐26, 2015; and Dec 3‐5, 2015. The Introductory training will be on February 7, 2015, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. For more info, contact Nadine Godin-Nassaney (firstname.lastname@example.org), or watch our various church news outlets over the next couple of months.
