just_mercyThere will be group discussion on Monday, March 7 at 7:30 in Room 19. This is a joint meeting sponsored by the Study Group and the Anti-Racism Anti-Oppression Multi-Cultural Committee.  The book being discussed is Bryan Stevenson’s book, Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption. The book is very appropriately the UUA’s Common Read for 2015-2016. Bryan Stevenson is a lawyer who has devoted his career to defending people who have been unjustly treated by the criminal justice. The book is a combination of a personal account of his career, with every other chapter focusing on a particular case of a man on death row. The book deals with issues of race and class, and how they are handled or mishandled by our justice system.
