website-bannerSaturday, November 22rd from 9:00 to 3:00 will be the 12th Annual People’s Church Holiday Bazaar and Fine Arts Sale!  Our church will be transformed into a festive venue with 35 local artists and artisans selling their beautiful work, while we sell our trademark pasties and other People’s specialties, serve up savory fare from the People’s Café and warm fellowship as we open our doors to the community. We hope for 700 people to cross our threshold that day to for unique holiday shopping and hope you will too!

Please see the sign-up sheets on the Bazaar table in the foyer by the entrance to the Commons or on the website for upcoming work groups and dates described below. All members and friends are needed to make this a successful FUNd-raising event. Please publicize the event with friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and networks and invite them to meet you here!

Pasty Making:  Five more sets of work dates are scheduled to make our goal of 900 pasties! Please sign up for a shift on October 3-4; 10-11; 17-18; 24-25; and 31-November 1. Come join the pasty fellowship fun – no prior experience needed.  Contact: Bob Friedel at 806-6560

Crafting/Cooking Workshops with Diann Johnson: Join Rev. Dave’s talented and fun spouse, Diann, to make items for People’s Specialties on a Wednesday in the kitchen. Sign up for craft workshop October 15 and/or 22 from 10:00 to noon. No craft experience necessary. Come for fun and fellowship…bring your scissors! Sign up for food workshop November 5 (cranberry chutney, trail mix) and/or 12 from 9:30 to noon (lentil soup for frozen foods, chocolate covered pretzels).

Peoples Specialties:  The foyer will be filled with our contributed homemade food and craft specialties.  Please sign up to contribute cookies and candies, breads or pies, frozen entrées, e jams, or your specialty handmade craft or artisan items.  For suggestions and recipes of popular items contact Martha Beverly at marthabeverly@gmail.com. White Elephant Sale: Please search for nice items, especially kids’ toys and books, baby and toddler equipment, jewelry, housewares, decorative and holiday items (no clothing or furniture, or ski equipment) that you can clean, set aside and donate to be repurposed in our White Elephant Sale. Items may be dropped off in the week before the Bazaar (details in November newsletter).  Sign up to help sort, arrange and mark items that week or for a sales shift on the day of the bazaar.   Contact: Kay Spade at jkspade@charter.net or Nancy Mitchell.

Greeters: We need a capable crew of energetic and helpful greeters to welcome people, orient them quickly to our preplanned route to the cashier lines, and diplomatically help prevent loss with our basket use and package storage. Contact: Rochelle Habeck at habeck@chartermi.net

Set Up: A small group of strong people will be needed a few days before the Bazaar to do move chairs and furniture and set up tables. Contact: Rochelle Habeck at habeck@chartermi.net

Cashiers and Talliers: We need people who can do arithmetic accurately and transactions quickly under pressure!  We need to track our vendors’ sales carefully, so you’ll need to enter data while you smile and act calm and welcoming to the customers in line! People’s Café: Our popular “café” is open during the Bazaar, for coffee, scones and sweet breads in the morning, to a delectable array of soups, sandwiches and pasties for lunch, and desserts, fruits and beverages in the afternoon. Shuttle Drivers: We’re going to park our cars up the street at The Point church and use our church van to shuttle us back and forth to make more room for our customers. Safe, reliable drivers are needed. Contact: Gary Leadley at garyleadley@gmail.com
