Our Board of Trustees has adopted a new policy, the Land Management Plan for People’s Church. The introductory paragraph states our vision and the goal of the plan.

The grounds surrounding People’s Church form an outdoor church space that is important for the religious life of the church members. Unitarian Universalism encourages people to recognize the interdependent web of life of which we are all a part: humans and other beings need to live in right relationship so that all may flourish. The goal of this Land Management Plan is to outline policies and practices that will contribute to the physical and spiritual well-being of the humans, wildlife, and plants that share the church lands, thereby assisting church members in living out their values.

The Green Sanctuary Committee, in close consultation with the Building and Grounds Committee, coordinated plan development. While many people worked on it, special mention goes to Cybelle Shattuck for writing the final document, Julia Kirkwood for creating a map of the grounds, and Marj Lightner for Memorial Garden policies. We also thank all who participated in meetings to discuss their visions for the grounds around People’s Church.

The plan is posted in the Members Section of the website. Click on “Member Docs,” then log in and click on “People’s Church Policies.” Since this is our newest policy, it’s at the top of the list. Please use it as a guide if you are contemplating any outdoor projects!
