Spring is here! And your Social Justice Coordinating Committee is looking forward to some uplifting action in People’s involvement. But first—the thank-yous.

Special Collections
Our response to the Center For Transformation’s appeal was $938.25. In addition, the Healthy Snack Drive was amazingly successful! Thanks once again for your generous support.

On April 14 we will hold a Special Collection for Kalamazoo County Ready 4s. The mission of Kalamazoo County Ready 4s is to “advance fully accessible, high-quality pre-kindergarten education for every 3- and 4-year-old in Kalamazoo County through collaborative leadership with public and private community partners.” They accomplish this by supporting pre-K providers in achieving and sustaining high-quality learning environments, providing tuition assistance to qualifying families, and developing strong community partnerships with other organizations who also serve young children and their families. When the program was launched in 2011, they started with 5 pre-kindergarten providers and 65 4-year-olds. Eight years later, there are 1,105 4-year-olds enrolled in 56 programs associated with KC Ready 4s, and they have expanded to serving 3-year-olds as well. Thanks to many donors and community partners, they continue to expand enrollment so that more children will enter kindergarten possessing the skills and abilities to find success—today, tomorrow, and into the future.

Our congregation has done it again and in record time. With your generous help, we have collected the money needed for our congregation to purchase a full page, color ad in the ISAAC Banquet Book. This is a wonderful statement about our church’s alignment with ISAAC’s work and will help support ISAAC’s budget. The ISAAC Banquet will be held on May 18th with a highly anticipated speaker. Tickets will be on sale in our foyer during April. Please join us—we hope to have at least 4 tables of 8 of our people and mix our seating with adjacent tables to help build the beloved community at this event. Items for Silent Auction are requested. Please contact ISAAC for details https://isaackalamazoo.org/

Anyone is welcome to sit in on SJCC meetings. The Social Justice Coordinating Committee meets the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in Room L2.
