Saturday, November 23rd will be the 18th Annual Bazaar, our all-church fun(d)raiser, welcoming all of our members, visitors, and friends. If you have helped or shopped, you know that this event fills the church and requires many hands. Please ask your friends to plan to join you to “shop local” for one-of-a-kind gifts and enjoy a snack or lunch in our café. This amazing event takes many hands. While the holiday season may seem a while off, our planning has begun. To get involved now, you can:
Sign Up for Pasty-Making Date
No previous experience needed! Someone who knows his/her way around the pasties will be on-hand for every session. Get to know other People’s people and learn to make our famous pasties which are frozen and sold at the Bazaar and served warm in the café. Chef Bob Friedel will lead the pasty-making process. Chris Schleuder, our church administrator will help organize work crews. The first sessions will be held September 27-28. You can sign up by visiting the Bazaar Table in the foyer; by emailing Chris at office@peopleschurch.net; or online by using the SignUpGenius link.
Prepare Items for People’s Specialties
Our major “department” at the Bazaar, in the foyer, is called “People’s Specialties.” These tables feature your handmade jams, salsas, breads, frozen entrees, cookies, candies, and small handcrafted items (such as knitted items, small quilted items, woodwork, and photography notecards). With this month being prime time for fresh produce, please consider making extra of your favorite jam, salsa, and other recipes for our Specialties tables or get a head start on one of your favorite craft projects to donate.
White Elephant Contribution
Are you doing some summer-to-fall closet and basement reorganizing? Our White Elephant rooms will need to be stocked with your nice items (no clothing, furniture, or ski equipment), so please set them aside now. Housewares, decorative items, and kids’ toys have been especially popular. These will be collected the week prior to the Bazaar.
As you can see, it’s not too soon to start our planning and preparations to make this another successful bazaar. More details will follow next month with further ways to help, including the various jobs that will be available on the day of the event.
Contact Chris in the office or email Rochelle Habeck Hunt at habeck@chartermi.net if you have questions or want to be more involved. The next meeting of the Bazaar Steering Committee is Monday, September 16 at 6:30 pm.
