The Nominating Committee has nominated two candidates to be on the committee next year.
Gordon Bolar is General Manager of public radio station WMUK, 102.1 FM, and has worked in public radio and public television for more than 20 years. He and his wife, Elly have lived in Kalamazoo since 1998. They have a cottage in the Baldwin area. In addition to writing, Gordon enjoys fishing, golf and softball. Gordon has been a member of People’s Church for 3 years.
Jeff Kirkwood has been a member of People’s Church since 2007. He is married to Julia and they have a daughter, Maya (13) and son, Samuel (9½). Jeff has a Bachelor of Science from Kent State and spent 10 years as a naturalist and environmental educator. He became a stay at home dad when his daughter was born and he homeschools his children. Jeff has been the director of the People’s Church Peace and Nature Camp since 2009 and loves exploring the outdoors with campers. He has helped with the RE program as well, chaperoning the middle school group at the Fall Mystic Lake Retreat the past 2 years. In February he served as a co-dean for the middle school conference held here at People’s Church. Jeff also served on the lay committee for Intern Minister Karen Quinlan. Coming to People’s Church has been a true blessing for Jeff and his family and he’s looking forward to serving on the DRE sabbatical team and the nominating committee.
Other candidates may be nominated by petitions containing the signatures of at least five supporting members. The petitions must be received by the church administrator at least four weeks prior to the Annual Meeting.
